Press Releases2009-09-15 - AirTies launches hat trick of industry firsts with customer installable, 3D, wireless video capable set-top boxAir 7224 features new ‘Air Touch’ self-service customer provisioning Istanbul, 15th September, 2009 - AirTies, the innovative wireless home networking vendor will be marking three industry firsts at this year’s IBC show. It will be previewing the industry’s first high definition 802.11N wireless video set-top box featuring self-service customer provisioning, 3D graphics, and solid state storage on NAND flash. Air 7224, the high definition, wireless, IPTV/WebTV set-top box (STB), will be on display on stand #303 as well as in partner booths of SeaChange, GooMe, Orca, Nordija and Opera. The Air 7224 is an elegant, compact, high definition STB for IPTV, WebTV and Video-On Demand (VoD) applications. It will be the first STB to offer a seamless wireless video distribution at home in conjunction with a compatible AirTies wireless gateway. With the addition of AirTies’ Mesh Networking, the need to run cables between multiple devices at home is totally eliminated. The combination of AirTies STB and gateway enables a simple one-touch installation and setup of secure wireless network by the end-user, getting rid of truck rolls and installation costs for the operators. The new AirTies STB on display at IBC also features the new Broadcom BCM7413 chipset, offering high definition 3D graphics and up to 96 GB NAND flash memory, as well as wireless video and self-service installation. The hardware accelerator for 3D OpenGL ES allows for thrilling user interface possibilities while the default 2 GB solid state NAND flash offers cost-effective Pause-LiveTV feature for the masses without the shortcomings of a mechanical hard drive.
